Four questions
Taking part
Who can join, what it costs and how teams come together.
Do I need to know how to code?
No. Strong teams mix builders, designers, storytellers, scientists and people who know the problem. Five challenges this year are marked beginner and youth friendly.
How much does it cost?
Nothing. The event is free, and breakfast and lunch are provided on both days.
Do I need a team?
No. Teams can have up to 6 people. Come with one or come solo: we form teams on Saturday morning, and you can look for teammates on the Space Apps site now.
I’m under 18. Can I take part?
Yes. A parent or guardian needs to complete the minor consent form before the event.
Two questions
Your project
When the work can start, and when it’s due.
Can I start my project early?
Explore the challenges and data as much as you like, but Space Apps rules say project work starts when the hackathon begins.
When is the submission deadline?
Submit your project on spaceappschallenge.org by 11:59 pm Mountain Time on Sunday, November 15. You can keep building remotely after doors close.
Two questions
At the event
Photos, and telling us what you need.
Will there be photos?
Yes. We take photos and video during the event. If you’d rather not appear, tell a volunteer at check-in.
I have an accessibility need. Who do I tell?
Tell an organizer before the event so we can plan for it, or let a volunteer know at check-in. That includes bringing a service animal.

Still have a question?
Submission rules and the global FAQs are on the Space Apps site. Anything about YYC, the Aerospace Innovation Hub or the weekend, ask a volunteer at check-in.
